Lauriebabble I just had the best few days I have had in years. I wish I hadn't had to come back home... Current mood: Current music: (in head) Durme, Durme (which is odd, as I hadn't thought of it in years). This time tomorrow, I'll be in Boston. Yay! I'm only in town for a few days, and I don't know if I'll be able to see any of you, but if you are in the area and have free time, do please let me know! Now I have to go back to packing...bah, packing. *grumble* Current mood: Current music: (in head) Marvin, I Love You. I shall officially be in Boston for New Year's! More on how and why this is happening later. *happy dance* Current mood: Current music: (in head) I Want You To Want Me - Cheap Trick. #43 - You react more strongly to Haley getting an involuntary haircut than you did to Roy dying. *flails* Current mood: Current music: (in head) Lean On Me. So, my grandfather passed away fairly suddenly yesterday afternoon. It wasn't entirely unexpected - he's been very sick for years, and had gotten distinctly worse in the past week or so, but it was still faster than anyone expected. I've had to organize a ton of stuff for the family, from writing the obituary to hunting down the contact info for various third cousins and such on the internet to finding accommodations for half a dozen out-of-town relatives to single-handedly cleaning out an entire room of my parents' house (including furniture) to make sleeping-space for several of said relatives to making a hundred or so deviled eggs for the post-funeral reception thingie to, apparently, performing some as-yet-undetermined hymn at the funeral. I am exhausted, I ache all over, I am about to keel over, and in the meantime, I haven't yet had a chance to sit down and actually mourn except for about five minutes when I first heard the news. Maybe I'll get to do that next week? Anyway, I just thought I'd let you all know, since a few people have tried to call or email recently, that if I seem to have fallen off the face of the earth, that's why. Current mood: Current music: (in head) a katamari damacy song, leftover from my 3-minute break earlier. I owe you all a real update soon, but in the meantime, a delightfully geeky link: http://hasthelargehadroncolliderdestroye Be sure to take a peek at the source code, too. Current mood: Current music: (in head) some stupid commercial jingle. ...I was totally going to bed, but as soon as I saw today's QC, I knew it had to be turned into an icon. :-p Current mood: Current music: (in head) something or other. Stolen from 1. Open a music player. 2. Go to 'all music'/'library'. 3. Hit shuffle/repeat/randomize. 4. Find photos of the first 25 performers/bands/composers that come up (no repeats and no cheating).* 5. Have people guess who the performers/bands/composers are. 6. No peeking at the source code! *I "cheated" a little insofar as the very first two songs that came up were, amusingly enough, by the Beatles and the Rolling Stones, and I figure you guys would prefer something with at least a hint of challenge about it. ( Pictures behind the cut! ) Current mood: Current music: (in head) one of the people in this game. I swear, this comic is about me far too often. ![]() I have just spent the last several minutes swearing at my computer because my silly internet discussion forum seems to be having server troubles and is not letting me reply to someone's really stupid argument. I am deeply frustrated by this event. Why do I care? I don't know! (But their argument was so stupid! They're WRONG, I tell you! WRONG!) Current mood: Current music: (in head) Little Drummer Boy (my brain is so random). 1. There is no way to call in sick to jury duty, even when you have severe (and severely gross, and severely contagious) bronchitis. 2. Everyone, even people with bronchitis and a really bad ear infection who clearly need their sleep, has to show up at 8 AM. 8 AM! In the morning! Doesn't that constitute cruel and unusual punishment or something? 3. Mere speculation, but it is not at all unlikely that, upon sending people with severe bronchitis home, they will then not summon them again for years, even once they are recovered, and will instead use lots of stupid people who probably don't secretly think jury duty might be kinda interesting if only they were healthy. More stupid things may be added after tomorrow! Current mood: Current music: coughcoughcoughcoughcoughdie. |
